Award Description
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification Generation 9
The NPLQ is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland and is also internationally recognised. More than 40,000 pool lifeguards qualify with the RLSS UK every year, and there are currently more than 80,000 pool lifeguards qualified in the NPLQ – 95% of all UK pool lifeguards.
RLSS UK is regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland.

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites
Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

NPLQ course dates and times for the course are as follows:
Friday 4th March 08:45am - 6:00pm
Saturday 5th March 08:45am - 5:00pm
Sunday 6th March 08:45am - 5:00pm
Friday 11th March 08:45am - 6:00pm
Saturday 12th March 08:45am - 5:00pm
Sunday 13th March 08:45am - 5:00pm
100% attendance is required
Prerequisites
Candidates must be:
16 years of age at the start of the course
Able to swim 100 metres continuously on their front and back
Able to swim 50 metres in 60 seconds
Able jump/dive into deep water
What will I need to bring to the course?
Photo identification on first and last day of the course to been shown to course tutor and assesor

Towel
Notebook & pen/pencil
Course Cost is £250.00
All payments are non-refundable unless the course is cancelled by Fusion Lifestyle.
