National Pool Lifeguard Qualification Generation 9

The NPLQ is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland and is also internationally recognised. More than 40,000 pool lifeguards qualify with the RLSS UK every year, and there are currently more than 80,000 pool lifeguards qualified in the NPLQ – 95% of all UK pool lifeguards.  

RLSS UK is regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA in Northern Ireland.

Lifeguard Course Prerequisites  

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

• Jump/dive into deep water
• Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
• Tread water for 30 seconds
• Surface dive to the floor of the pool
• Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

We are running an RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Course at Exmouth Leisure Centre in April 

Monday 11th April - Wednesday 20th April 

• Monday 11th April 08:30am - 17:30pm
• Tuesday 12th April 08:30am - 17:30pm 
• Wednesday 13th April 08:30am - 17:30pm 
• Tuesday 19th April 08:30am - 17:30pm 
• Wednesday 20th April 08:30am - 14:00pm (assessment 14:30 - 18:00pm)

Full attendance is required along with the following pre-course requisites:

• Be 16+ years of age on the date of assessment
• Jump / dive into deep water
• Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and 100m continuously on back
• In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds
• Surface dive to the floor of the pool
• Climb out of the pool unaided without using a ladder / steps where the pool design permits

The cost of the course is £250 inclusive of course materials and includes a seperate qualification in AED (automated external defibrillation).
